About Hicks
Hicks Thermometers (India) Limited, based in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, is one of India's oldest medical-device brands. Set up in the late 1940s to make clinical mercury thermometers under the Hicks name, it has since moved into digital thermometers, blood-pressure monitors, nebulisers, pulse oximeters, hot-water bottles, weighing scales and other home-healthcare products sold through pharmacies, distributors and e-commerce across India and export markets.
The company is closely held by its promoter family with a small number of outside shareholders, which is why the share count is tiny and the per-share price high. The ban on mercury thermometers has shifted the mix toward digital and infrared devices, many of which are imported and rebranded, so margins depend on sourcing and brand strength rather than manufacturing scale.
Revenue is believed to be in the ₹50–70 Cr range with steady single-digit-crore profits and a debt-light balance sheet. Trading in the unlisted market is sporadic; the quote of ₹1,789 reflects the small float rather than a large valuation.
The search budget was exhausted before this company could be researched, so incorporation date, capital, directors and all financial line items are estimates from general knowledge; treat every figure as approximate and verify with the dealer.

What works
- • Hicks is a household brand in clinical thermometers with decades of pharmacy-channel distribution.
- • Diversified into higher-value home-healthcare devices (BP monitors, nebulisers, oximeters) that grew strongly after the pandemic.
- • Conservative, debt-light balance sheet and a long record of profitability.
What to watch
- • Small scale and heavy competition from Omron, Dr Trust and low-cost imports in digital devices.
- • Limited public disclosure; figures on this page are approximate.
- • Very thin unlisted market; buyers may struggle to find sellers and vice versa.
