About AKC Steel
A K C Steel Industries Limited was incorporated on 20 February 1957 in Kolkata and listed on the Calcutta Stock Exchange from 18 October 1973. With the CSE defunct the shares no longer trade on any exchange, and in 2025 the company was renamed AKC Engineering Limited. It is controlled by the Bansal family (Ashok Kumar, Mukesh Chand and Manav Bansal).
The original business was rolling of basic iron and steel products. Today revenue is small — roughly ₹5–7 Cr a year — and profit margins of over 50% of revenue point to income from investments, rent and trading rather than manufacturing. Paid-up capital is ₹4.15 Cr (41.5 lakh shares of ₹10).
FY24 profit before tax was ₹3.22 Cr (FY23: ₹2.87 Cr) with a net profit ratio of 57% and a return on equity near 15%, implying net worth of about ₹17 Cr. The current ratio jumped to 17 times, i.e. the balance sheet is almost entirely liquid assets. At ₹26 the market value is about ₹11 Cr, well below estimated book value.
